My local art society, St.Austell Society of Artists (SASA) meet in Charlestown, a beautiful and historic port here on the South Coast of Cornwall. We are celebrating our 50th anniversary this year, and our show is set to be the best one yet.
Come and join us and be inspired
The art exhibition opens at 10am on Saturday 20th July, and runs till 5pm on Friday the 26th. Every day you can come and meet the artists who will be delighted to tell you about their creations and inspirations.
With original art, fine art prints and greetings cards there is art for all tastes and budgets, so you can take home a piece of Cornwall.
Meet Tamsin and watch drawing demonstrations
I will be at the exhibition all day on Sunday 21st and Friday 26th July, so do come along and say hi. I love to talk all things art, and I will be working on some new portraits so you can watch how I draw in pencil and in pastel.
I am passionate about portaiture, and am a firm believer that we can all draw. We just need to be shown the basics and then practice and develop our own style. I will gladly show you how I work and create my finely detailed work, and hopefully encourage you to pick up a pencil and have a go yourself.
SASA’s art exhibition
Every year we come together as an art society to showcase the talents of our local creative community. One of the great strengths of SASA is our diversity of members. We have an enthusiastic group who are united by their love of visual arts, and a broad range of skills and styles between us.
From traditional seascapes to bold collages, abstract paintings to fine art pencil portraiture, etchings to oils and sketches to botanical studies, there really is something for everyone.
Celebrate art, culture and all things Cornwall with Charlestown Regatta Week
Our art exhibition coincides with the vibrant Charlestown Regatta. This annual event is brilliant fun, bringing together the local community and visitors alike. There are a wide range of events happening including water sports, live music, a carnival and of course our exhibition of fine art by local artists.
