Commissions

“Commissioning a portrait begins with a conversation, an opportunity to discuss what you would like, and how that can best be achieved”

For some clients, there is a definite preference in favour of pencil or pastel, or if preferred I can advise what may suit best for a particular portrait. The composition will be agreed and sketches can be provided of layouts or groupings if more than one subject is to be featured.
I work from photographs, meaning there is no sitting required and the entire process can be undertaken remotely.
Digital photography offers many benefits for the clarity of images and visible details, though I appreciate that in some  circumstances this is not an option.

Prices for a commissioned portrait start at £600 for pencil, and £400 for pastel. The cost of an individual commission depends on the portrait’s medium, size, number of subjects and background if any.

The timescale for any given portrait is as unique as the artwork itself, and dependent on current bookings. The completion date will be agreed upon the confirmation of the commission. Please allow plenty of time if considering a commission as a gift for a particular date.

Whilst drawing a commissioned portrait, I scan the artwork at each stage and share these progress images with the client so that they too can enjoy witnessing the creation of the artwork.
This also ensures that everything is as they want it to be. On occasion the client may prefer to wait till the artwork is completed before seeing it. Final approval of the finished portrait will be sought before it is dispatched.

Commissioned portraits are supplied with a mount and wrapped ready to present.

Additional options include fine art giclée prints so the artwork can be shared with loved ones, and framing of the finished portrait.
