Exhibition Poster Artist at Lander Gallery
Many thanks to Lander Gallery in Truro for selecting my artworks Rosie and Goldfinch to feature on the posters for the Spring Open Exhibition and the Wild Cornwall exhibition. It was a delight to climb the stairs to the galllery and see my Goldfinch welcoming the visitors when I popped in the other day!
Wild Cornwall Exhibition at Lander Gallery
It is my great pleasure to say that I have been invited to exhibit my art as a part of Lander Gallery's latest exhibition, Wild Cornwall. It is running from 22nd April till 4th June and there will be as always a wide variety of work on display from paintings to sculpture, and drawings to jewellery.
Alongside all the wonderful current art by local artists, there is the Lander Classics collection also, as well as the super Gallery Cafe where you can take a break whilst soaking up the atmosphere.
I am exhibiting three new original pastel paintings in Wild Cornwall, each of which are available to buy also. They are: Blackberry Brunch, Goldfinch and Just Popping Out.
Posturing Peacock is Longlisted for JOAP 2016
This week I learned the very exciting news that my entry of Posturing Peacock of Pencarrow has been longlisted for the Jacksons Open Art Prize 2016. This is the first year I have entered myself into any art competitions, so to receive this recognition is extremely flattering and encouraging. JOAP is an international competition, and as an open event artwork in many different mediums and across any genre was accepted. My coloured pencil drawing is one of just 410 pictures chosen from 3100 entries!
You can see all the longlisted artworks here: www.jacksonsart.com/blog/2016/04/15/joap-longlist-announced and you will find my drawing on page four. It is well worth browsing the selected entries as the standard is extremely high and there is definitely lots of creative inspiration to be had. The shortlist as selected by a panel of judges will be announced on the 29th April on the blog, very best of luck to all my fellow artists with the next round!
Posturing Peacock of Pencarrow has sold!
This coloured pencil portrait sold before I had shared the finished picture online. As a way to demonstrate the process of creating a drawing, I posted a step by step series (one stage a day, over 15 days of peacock season) of photographs on my Facebook page www.facebook.com/tamsindearingportraits
One of the followers fell in love with this beautiful fellow and his poses, and purchased the original and then waited to see the last few stages unfold. I was rather looking forward to having this drawing on my wall in my studio though am delighted that it has found such a happy home and will be enjoyed by others too.
Limited edition prints are available of Posturing Peacock of Pencarrow, with greetings cards coming soon, and if you visit me at the Fowey Art Trail next month you will be able to see a print framed and in all it's glory.
Fowey Art Trail
Fowey Art Trail is running from 7th - 14th May, as a part of this year's Fowey Festival of Arts and Literature. I am delighted to be taking part in this open studios event and to be joining forces with fellow local artists Maureen Bull, Karen Needham and Denise Parry. Together we are exhibiting at Taurus Art Gallery (which is run by Maureen) and are the first stop on the trail of 16 artists' studios and venues around the picturesque town of Fowey on Cornwall's south coast.
I will be working on new artwork in both pastel and pencil throughout the week, and will be very happy to discuss how I create my pictures, the materials I use, and to demonstrate how I employ a range of techniques to create my pencil drawings and pastel paintings.
This is an excellent opportunity to view my artwork and to purchase original pictures, limited edition prints and greetings cards, and also to discuss and ideas you may have for commissioning a portrait of your own.
It is always a joy to meet others who are interested in the creative process, and to have the opportunity to be a part of an event like this which showcases the wealth of talent in this part of the world.
Fowey Festival of Arts and Literature is a longstanding annual event here in Cornwall, and attracts visitors from far and wide with its excellent programme of events. You can find full details of what is on offer this year on the website www.foweyfestival.com
Taurus Art Gallery can be found at Gallant's Drive near Readymoney car park in Fowey.
It will be open from 10:30am - 5pm every day from Saturday 7th till Saturday 14th May.
Rosie has Sold!
In the first few days of the Spring exhibition at Truro's Lander Gallery, Rosie has found her way into the heart of a new home and has been sold. I don't know where she will soon be living, but I hope that wherever she goes she will continue to bring as many smiles to her new family as she has to me. Thank you to whomever is giving her her new home, and good bye Rosie, you will be missed!
Spring Exhibition at Lander Gallery, Truro
This year's Spring exhibition is running from 18th March till 16th April. Lander Gallery is a beautiful space with paintings old and new to enjoy alongside a cafe serving great coffee and cake. My submissions for this joint exhibition are 'Fox' and 'Rosie', both pastel paintings, and both are available to purchase as a Spring time gift for yourself or another.
So far for 2016 I have four group exhibitions confirmed across Cornwall.
The first of which will be at the Lander Gallery in Truro, running from Mid March till Mid April www.landergallery.co.uk
I will be a part of an exciting exhibition in St.Mawes with fellow members of St.Austell Society of Artists which will be held from 15th till the 21st May at the Millenium Rooms.
Next up is Fowey Art Trail from 7th - 14th May. I will have a variety of artwork on display at Taurus Gallery in Fowey and will be in situ doing drawing and pastel demonstrations throughout so you can watch me whilst I work.
The fourth opportunity to view my art alongside fellow Cornish Artists will be in an exhibition in Bodmin curated by the Friends of St.Petrocs which will be on show from 20th June till 2nd July.
Full details of each exhibition will be shared on here as each approaches.

Art with Roseland Surgery Patient Group
A series of art workshops are being arranged by Roseland Surgery Patient Group for the local community in this very beautiful part of Cornwall. They are encouraging those who are creatively confident and those who are less so to come together in a relaxed environment and enjoy learning new skills. The benefits of art for wellbeing are well documented and are being harnessed here to spread fun, build confidence and explore artistic expression whilst bringing village community members together.
Fellow artist and tutor Trevor Hawkins and myself have so far co-delivered a drawing workshop and a figure sculpture in clay workshop, with classes for progression planned over the coming months. To see all the photographs from these workshops you can browse the Roseland Sugery Patient Group Art Classes album on my Facebook page here: www.facebook.com/tamsindearingportraits and Trevor's website featuring his great many artistic ventures here: www.atsonartmaketeach.com
